'Museum' is perhaps something of an understatement for a project that spans 80 hectares of land and contains 72 separate buildings. In fact the Estonian Open Air Museum is a life-sized reconstruction of an 18th century rural/fishing village, which comes complete with church, inn, schoolhouse, several mills, a fire station, twelve farmyards and net sheds. Well if you're going to build a mock-up village you may as well do it properly! Kids and adults alike will enjoy travelling back in time to an idyllic era, blissfully free of consumerism, weapons of mass destruction, world terrorism and irritating ring tones. Plus there are plenty of fun activities to get involved in - nature trails, horse and carriage rides, and rustic theatre to name but a few.
