Located 170 metres into the atmosphere like a gigantic fanny-pack hanging around the waist of Tallinn's TV tower, Galaxy Restaurant is not a throwback to the era in which it was built, so much as a hold-steady. The lift that launches you upward to the observation deck and restaurant becomes a time machine when you step out and stall uncertainly, thinking you may have just staggered into the early 80s. Order yourself a vodka for the nerves and a Thick Russian Meat Soup to stay inconspicuous. The food is delicious, so it should be easy to acclimate. And that view's not so bad either, is it? |
