Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Estonia on the 19th of October to complete her tour of the Baltic states. After arriving at Tallinn's International Airport aboard a special British Airways jet, the Queen and Prince Philip were greeted by newly elected President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in a reception ceremony held at Kadriorg Palace.
The Queen was promptly invited by Ilves to review a guard of honour in front of the pink palace, and the Union Jack flew alongside Estonia’s blue, black and white national flag.
Throughout her tour, in which she also visited fellow Baltic Capitals Vilnius and Riga, the 80-year-old monarch has repeatedly praised the Baltic people for their determined fight for freedom.
Scheduled for the Queen's visit are a trip to the Estonian Art Museum, KUMU - a modern architecturall masterpiece and symbol of the city; an open air concert called 'Estonia Sings' in the Town Hall Square; and a ceremony on board the HMS Liverpool, which is currently docking in Tallinn's port.
