Occupying Friedrich Wiegand's once reknowned 'Machine Works' building (dating back to 1881), the facade of the building may seem a bit bleary and industrial on first glance, but its authentic character is charmingly revealed through closer inspection, and the lovely interior atrium is breezy and bright. Rooms at Domina Ilmarina are classy, spacious and comfortable, equipped with wireless internet, and quite affordable when compared to other Tallinn hotels of its pedigree. Located by the sea in Tallinn's revitalized port area, don't be put off by Domina's seemingly out-of-the-way location: Tallinn is much smaller than it looks on a map and this hotel is a fine choice for anyone who wants to stroll through the Old Town - just a pleasant 8 minute amble away - particularly if you are arriving by boat or ferry or carrying on to Helsinki.
